The former company of Kotobukiya was a toy store. However, it was destroyed in fire. Later, it became a hobby shop in “First Department 3F” in June 1967. In 1984, they started to produce original garage kits. In 1995, following the boom of Evagelion, Kotobukiya started to make figures of綾波レイ. After that, many scale figures were made.
